The BSP on Friday called the Samajwadi Party governments first six months in power as those of lawlessness, indecision, inconsistency, infighting and failure.
Speaking at a press conference, party general secretary and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Swami Prasad Maurya said the SP government had completely failed in the first six months and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has proved to be the most incompetent chief minister of the state since independence.
Maurya said SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav had sought the six months time for the Akhilesh government but in those six months the state had witnessed only anarchy and indecision while no development work was started. In the name of fulfilling its promises, the SP government has given unemployment allowance to a few unemployed youths while a large number of them have got nothing,he said. Several other promises like giving laptops and tablets to Class 10 and 12 pass-outs,loan waivers for farmers and free irrigation water remain a distant dream,he added.
Maurya said the government retracted almost all its decisions in the first six months, which shows there is no coordination in the cabinet and the government has no strategy for taking decisions. He said the government first took the decision of closing shops and malls by 7 pm to cope with electricity crises but had to retract it within 24 hours. Next came the decision of allowing MLAs to use up to Rs 20 lakh from their Local Area Development Fund for buying a car,and the removal of cabinet minister Azam Khan as in-charge of Meerut district, both of which were retracted by the government. Even the decision of holding Janata Darshan by the CM has proved futile,Maurya said.
Claiming that the government had failed to tackle deteriorating law and order and hooliganism by SP cadres,Maurya said that antisocial elements went on a rampage in Lucknow,Allahabad and Kanpur on Eid but the administration failed to control it. He said there had been five communal riots in the first six months of the government while there was not a single Hindu-Muslim riot in the state during four years of the BSP government.
