SP govt back,many IPS officers on central deputation set to return

A number of UP cadre IPS officers on central deputation of ADG,IG,DIG and SP ranks are believed to be coming back to their home cadre after receiving a signal from the top officials in the newly-formed government.

Majority of these officers were posted on significant posts during the last Samajwadi Party regime. Sources in the state government said that the officers who are on the list of probables include 1982 batch ADG Praveen Singh,who is currently posted as Chief Vigilance Officer with National Hydro Power Corporation Ltd at Faridabad in Haryana,1988 batch IG RK Vishwakarma,presently posted with CRPF at Delhi and 1990 batch IGs Prashant Kumar and Bijaya Kumar Maurya,both posted with the ITBP in Delhi at present.

Besides,DIG Daljit S Chowdhary (1990 batch) posted with Ministry of Home Affairs,DIG Mukul Goel (1987 batch) posted with National Disaster Response Force & Civil Defence at Delhi and 1998 batch IPS SK Bhagat who is presently posted as SP with CBI in Delhi are also on the list.

Praveen Singh was posted as IG Crime at the DGP Headquarters during the SPs previous term and was also considered close to Mulayam Singh Yadav. Singh had gone on central deputation in 2009. He is likely to be given the important post of UPs ADG Karmik (Personnel) once he returns to the home cadre,sources said.

On the other hand,Vishwakarma had served as SP of districts,SSP of elite Special Task Force during last SP government and also as range DIG before he chose to go on central deputation in 2006. Similarly,IGs Prashant Kumar and Bijay Kumar Maurya too had served as SPs of several districts during the Mulayam Singh government and opted for central deputation soon after the BSP came to power in 2007.

DIGs Mukul Goel and Daljit S Chowdhary were among 25 IPS officers accused in the police recruitment scam alleged by the BSP government. Both of them went on deputation after Mayawati took charge of the government and they are yet to be promoted to IG ranks following the charges.

Goel and Chowdhary had served as SPs of several districts and DIGs of ranges during the last SP government.

Surprisingly,SP SK Bhagat who joined the CBI in Delhi merely three months back,has also shown keen interest in coming back to UP.
