Scuffle during rally: FIR filed against Union ministers

A case was registered on Tuesday against Union ministers Jitin Prasada and RPN Singh.

A case was registered on Tuesday against Union ministers Jitin Prasada and RPN Singh,Congress leader Pramod Tiwari and party MLA Naseeb Pathan at the Jhunsi police station of Allahabad.

Allahabad DIG Prakash D said the FIR is lodged on the complaint of a student of Allahabad University Abhishek Yadav for allegedly beating him up when he tried to hand over a memorandum to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi at the railway ground in Phulpur area on Monday.

The DIG also said the case is registered under IPC sections 147 (punishment for rioting),149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object),323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 7 in Criminal Law Amendment Act. Station Officer (SO) of Jhunsi police station will investigate the case,Prakash D confirmed.

The complainant alleged the Union ministers,Congress leaders and the security personnel escorting them caught and assaulted him mercilessly when he was heading to hand over the memorandum to Rahul Gandhi to request him to restore student union elections. He also alleged the ministers and others asked the security personnel to get the complainant arrested under serious offences.
