Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Friday visit his parliamentary constituency Varanasi to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 13,000 crore related to road, industry, tourism, textile, and health sector, officials said.
The PM will also attend the prize distribution ceremony for the winners of ‘Sansad Sanskrit Pratiyogita’, ‘Kashi Sansad Gyan Pratiyogita’, and ‘Kashi Sansad Photography Pratiyogita’ at Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Later, he will perform puja at the Sant Guru Ravidas Janmasthali temple, the birthplace of Sant Ravidas, and address a public meeting to mark the poet-saint’s 647th birth anniversary.
Then he will inaugurate a newly installed statue of Sant Ravidas in the adjoining Ravidas Park and lay the foundation stone of the Sant Ravidas Museum and beautification of the Sant Ravidas Park project.
At 1:30 pm, the Prime Minister will inaugurate Banas Kashi Sankul, the largest dairy plant of Amul, at the UP State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA)’s agro park.
Later, he will participate in a public function where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 13,000 crore. These projects include foundation stone laying of road projects like the four-laning of the Ghargra-Bridge-Varanasi section of National Highway-233; four-laning of the Sultanpur-Varanasi section of NH-56, six-laning of the Varanasi-Aurangabad section of NH-19; four-laning of the Varanasi-Hanumana section on NH-35 along with a railway over-bridge on the Varanasi-Jaunpur rail section near Babatpur.
He is also likely to lay the foundation stone of the Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata Expressway.
The foundation stone of projects for the rejuvenation of ponds and redevelopment of parks will also be laid by the PM.
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to lay the foundation stone of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), a new medical college in Varanasi, and the National Centre of Ageing at BHU.
Other projects the PM will unveil are an LPG bottling plant by HPCL in Sewapuri, a silk fabric printing common facility centre for weavers, and an urban waste-to-charcoal plant by NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation) at Ramana, officials said.
Multiple projects related to tourism and spiritual tourism such as the development of amenities along the ‘Panchkoshi Parikrama Marg’ and ‘Pavan Path’ will also be inaugurated by Modi, they informed.
Besides, he will also launch an electric catamaran vessel of the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) from Varanasi to Ayodhya.
