Peace Party will organise demonstrations across the state on Eid to protest against alleged atrocities on Muslims in Assam and Myanmar as well as yesterday’s rioting.

The party has appealed to Muslims to wear black bands and organise protests after Eid namaz.

Peace Party chief Dr Mohammad Ayub blamed both the Congress and Samajwadi Party for promoting hatred in society. The party, which draws its support mainly from backward Muslims, will be protesting against the SP government for the first time.

When pointed out that Eid is a festive occasion,Ayub said,“The whole Muslim community is at pain over atrocities on Muslims in Myanmar and Assam. So we will protest on Eid.”

Ayub targeted the Akhilesh Yadav-led government: “There have been four major riots since SP assumed power. Muslims suffered in every riot. There is insecurity among the whole community as the government has failed to instill confidence.”

He also accused the Congress-led UPA government. “It has failed to protect the lives of Muslims. We will protest against the discrimination of the Congress,” he said.
