Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said that she was pained at the poor condition of the state which is her sasural and urged the people that they should vote for Congress,keeping in mind the better future of their children. Trying to strike an emotional chord with the people of UP,Dikshit was campaigning for the Congress candidates in the state capital.
Dikshit addressed two public meetings in the state capital on Sunday,one in UP Congress Committee president Rita Bahuguna Joshis constituency Lucknow Cantt and Congress MLA Shyam Kishor Shuklas constituency Lucknow West.
Meri sasural hai yahan. Isliye apnepan ke saath aayi hun. Main bhi chahti hun ki mere prant ka vikas ho. (UP is my in-laws place. Therefore,I have come here with the feeling of belonging. I also want my state to progress), she said,urging people to vote for Joshi.
Addressing the public meeting in Shuklas constituency,Dikshit reiterated that she was not an outsider to comment on the poor development of UP,saying that she was married in Unnao.
Dikshit was married to Late Vinod Dikshit,son of independence activist and former West Bengal Governor Late Uma Shankar Dikshit,who belonged to Ugoo village of Unnao.
Speaking in Joshis constituency,Dikshit said that the Delhi government had given about 20,000 houses to the people living in slums besides several other schemes for the welfare of widows,divorced women and girl children. Seelampur MLA and Delhi Wakf Board chairman Chaudhary Mateen Ahmed was also prodded to speak about houses provided by Delhi government for the residents living in slums.
