“The decision to deny entry to non-Hindu devotees was taken by the managing committee,” said Yogi Kaushalnath of Aligarh temple.
He pointed out that the managing committee has also decided to ban entry of those who come to the temple in “short clothes.” “Worship of God should be held in modest clothing and not with the motive that the attire distracts other devotees. This is why we had put up posters but later removed these and now we will come up with bigger posters denying entry of non -Hindus and those wearing short dresses,” said
the mahant.
On Tuesday, the Balaji Dham temple in Muzaffarnagar has enforced clothing rules for men and women devotees. In a notice issued Tuesday, temple authorities said those wearing short clothes like ‘half pants and mini skirts’ will not be allowed to have a ‘darshan’ of the deity.
