The Muslim community in Ayodhya has welcomed the stand of UP Chief Minister Mayawati on the Babri Masjid dispute.
At an election meeting in Faizabad on Friday,the BSP leader had said she favoured resolution of the issue by talks and mutual understanding between the two communities. She also said her government would implement the court directive on the matter. Abdul Khaliq,member of the All India Milli Council,said,Mayawati has clarified that she wants to settle the issue and doesnt want bloodshed.
Advocate Jamal Ahmad said,If she comes forward to break the ice between Hindus and Muslims on this issue,then she will create history. Her promise of honouring the court verdict will also have the support of Muslims.
Haji Mahboob,a plaintiff in the Babri Masjid case,said,It is a good message. We expect the courts final verdict on the issue by next February.
Zafaryab Jilani,a member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board and an advocate in the Babri Masjid case pending before the High Court,said,Implementing the court verdict is duty of any government,there is nothing special about Mayawatis announcement.
