Mother held for killing 3-month-old

A woman was arrested Tuesday for allegedly murdering her three-month-old daughter on the advice of a tantrik in Gorakhpur district.

A woman was arrested Tuesday for allegedly murdering her three-month-old daughter on the advice of a tantrik in Gorakhpur district. Rekha was in touch with a tantrik named Najibullah,a resident of Deoria,police said. Najibullah asked Rekha to ‘sacrifice’ her daughter so that she could free herself from poverty. Yadav said the woman’s husband Sudarshan lives in Surat. Police said Rekha carried her daughter to the nearby jungle and suffocated her to death.

To assist students in cutting through red tape,Lucknow University has decided to introduce a single window clearance counter. LU assistant registrar Sanjeev Singh said the counter,set to become operational on Friday,will provide facilities such as giving out migration and provisional certificates,PhD concession and opening of bank accounts among others.
