MLAs to be arrested after House session

The Muzaffarnagar police will arrest the BJP and BSP MLAs accused of inciting violence in Muzaffarnagar after the state Assembly’s monsoon session gets over on Friday.

The Muzaffarnagar police will arrest the BJP and BSP MLAs accused of inciting violence in Muzaffarnagar after the state Assembly’s monsoon session gets over on Friday. The police has already obtained arrest warrants against them.

A police team from Muzaffarnagar had visited Lucknow Wednesday following information that BJP MLAs Hukum Singh,Sangeet Singh Som and Suresh Rana were present in state capital.

The IG (Law & Order),RK Vishwakarma said that the team did not arrest the MLAs,as they had come to attend the Assembly session. They will be arrested after the session was over,he added.

The Muzaffarnagar police had also lodged cases against BSP MP from Muzaffarnagar Qadir Rana and BSP MLAs from Charthawal and Meerapur constituencies Noor Saleem Rana and Jameel Ahmad,respectively,for allegedly making provocative speeches while addressing a gathering in City Kotwali area on August 30. The politicians are accused for promoting enmity between people on ground of religion. They also face charges of violating prohibitory orders (section 144 CrPC) issued by district magistrate banning assembly of people in the area.

BJP MLAs from Sangeet Singh Som,Kunwar Bhartendra Singh,Suresh Rana and Hukum Singh are also facing the charges of inciting people by making inflammatory speeches during a mahapanchayat held in Nagla Mandaur area of Muzaffarnagar on September 7. Bharatiya Kisan Union leaders Rakesh Tikait and Naresh are co-accused with BJP MLAs in the cases.

Congress leader Rashid Alvi Thursday said communal riots in Muzaffarnagar have left Gujarat far behind. Alvi,who was detained by the UP police after he visited a camp in Loni,said he was forcibly taken to a police station and after an hour’s detention taken to the UP-Delhi border and left there. “I have visited Gujarat also. But,Muzaffarnagar has left Gujarat behind,” he said,pointing to the problems of Muslims in the area. Alvi,a former Rajya Sabha MP of Congress from Andhra Pradesh,hails from Uttar Pradesh and is a known detractor of the Samajwadi Party.
