Minor girl ‘raped’ in moving train, attendant arrested in Kanpur

THE Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested a coach attendant of Indore Patna Express train for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl during the journey between Lucknow and Kanpur stations in early hours of Saturday. The victim, a native of Lakhimpur Kheri district, was travelling alone.

GRP sub-inspector at Kanpur, Ashok Kumar Ojha said they received a call from Lucknow control room early Saturday morning informing them that a minor girl had been sexually assaulted in the AC coach of the train. The call was made by one of the passengers travelling in the same coach.

Police arrested the attendant, Raj Kashyap (25), when the train arrived at Kanpur railway station. The victim had been sent for the medical examination, an official said.
