Midsize Motorcar

The slew of new cars hitting the road belies the doomsayers' slowdown chant.

The slew of new cars hitting the road belies the doomsayers’ slowdown chant. As Tata prepares to add to the traffic simultaneously with Jaguar, the most expensive and Nano, the cheapest, next month,Honda Siel Cars India Ltd has launched Jazz, promising the space of a big car and the manageable size of a small one.

“We have modelled it on the more-man-than-machine principle, keeping the mechanical aspects from overriding the human touch,” said Tanuj S Sandhu,Zonal Manager East, launching the car in Lucknow. “It is roomy enough to carry all your luggage besides five passengers, yet compact enough to get parked without fuss. On the other hand,it’s fuel efficient like all our cars in spite of its sweeping dimensions,” he added, claiming it gives a 16 km/litre average.

The three variants, available in eight different shades, are available at Rs 7 lakh-plus.

“Yes,we do we have a budget car on the anvil, but it’s too early to talk about it. Our customers are already familiar with the Honda advantage and measure the value in terms of virtue,so pricing,we admit,is not our top priority,” claimed the company official.
