Meerut again: 24-year-old ‘raped’, minor ‘molested’

Three youths in Sotiganj allegedly misbehaved and attempted to abduct an 11-yr-old.

Within a week of a 20-year-old woman alleging she was forcibly converted to Islam and gangraped, two more incidents — one of rape, another of molestation — came to the fore in Meerut on Saturday.

A 24-year-old woman has alleged she was abducted from near Quila Parikshatgarh Wednesday, held captive for three days and raped by two youths. On the third day, the woman allegedly managed to contact her family using one accused’s phone and gave them her location.

The woman’s father contacted the village head who called the police. The woman was rescued from a house on Saturday.

“One Saajid has been arrested in this connection while raids are being conducted to nab Zubair, whose house it was,” SSP Onkar Singh said.

Meanwhile in Sotiganj, three youths allegedly misbehaved with a 11-year-old Sikh girl and attempted to abduct her while she was returning home from school. Locals, however, managed to nab one the youths while his accomplices escaped. The youth was handed over to the police who identified him as Afzal.

Following the incident hundreds of people from the Sikh community, Hindu organisations and the BJP laid siege to the cantonment police station demanding action against the accused.
