Security cover provided to cops widow
Deoria: The widow of slain DSP Ziaul Haq has been provided a security picket outside her house here in the district,police said on Wednesday. According to SP Umesh Kumar Srivastav,the slain DSPs widow,Parveen Azad,has been provided two armed guards along with a security picket outside her house in Juwafar village here. Three SHOs and a PAC platoon,have also been deployed in the village.
AMU students hold candlelight vigil
Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University Students Union has demanded swift inquiry and setting up of a fast-track court to try the killers of slain DSP Ziaul Haq. The students body held a candlelight march on Tuesday night on campus to express its sense of deep anguish over the killing of Haq. They showed their solidarity with his wife,who is an alumnus of womens college at AMU.
Congress leaders meet governor over Law & Order
Lucknow: Congress leader met Governor B L Joshi on Wednesday and demanded immediate arrest of all the accused in the Pratapgarh incident,including those named in the FIR filed by the wife of the slain CO Ziaul Haque. Led by leader of the legislature party Pradip Mathur,the Congress delegation submitted a memorandum drawing the Governors attention to the rise in criminal activities,including over a dozen communal clashes,during the 10-month SP rule in UP.
