Lucknow civic body chief removed

Two days after Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav met Urban Development Minister Azam Khan,the state government transferred Lucknow Municipal Commissioner N P Singh on Sunday.

Two days after Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav met Urban Development Minister Azam Khan,the state government transferred Lucknow Municipal Commissioner N P Singh on Sunday. Singh has been asked to wait for his new posting.

On August 11,Azam had recommended to the state government that Singh be suspended. Azam was incensed allegedly because the commissioner was not paying attention to complaints of garbage piled up at different places in the city. However,the government did not act on Azams recommendation. Singh is a PCS officer and action against him can only be taken by the CM.

Singhs transfer is considered a belated attempt on the part of the Chief Minister to pacify Azam.

IAS transfers

The government has transferred 13 IAS officers. While Sushil Kumar,secretary,higher education,has been asked to join as new divisional commissioner,Basti,T Venkatesh,who was waiting for a posting,will be secretary,higher education department. Kunwar Vikram Singh,DM,Mau,has been made divisional commissioner,Aligarh. Shashibhushan Lal Sushil will join as new DM,Mau. Anil Kumar,DM,Allahabad has been made special secretary,technical education department. Raj Shekhar,DM,Pilibhit,will join as DM,Allahabad. Amit Gupta and Sanjay Kumar have been made DM,Pilibhit and DM,Moradabad,respectively. Gauri Shankar Priyadarshi and Adarsh Singh will join as DM,Badaun and DM,Kannauj,respectively.
