The Uttar Pradesh STF arrested a history-sheeter from Nawabad area of Jhansi district on Friday. Phoolchand Yadav had 46 cases registered against him in various police stations of Lucknow and was carrying a reward of Rs 50,000. ADG (Law & Order) Brij Lal said the STF team arrested Yadav from outside the Jhansi railway station. Yadav was a native of Malihabad area and a history-sheeter of the same police station.

Forest dept to hold camps to settle claims

The state Forest department will be holding camps for quick settlement of claims under the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act 2006. In a review meeting of the department held in the state capital on Friday,Minister for Forests Fateh Bahadur Singh asked the department to ensure quick disposal of the claims and hold camps for the purpose. According to official data,88,704 claims have been submitted by all the forest divisions where this act is being implemented.
