Report on LU sexual harassment case on April 27
The inquiry report of the alleged sexual harassment by a Lucknow University lecturer will be submitted on April 27. The report was to be handed over to the Vice-Chancellor on Wednesday. Because of the need of deliberation,the V-C has allowed us to submit the report by next Tuesday, said Prof Rakesh Chandra,Dean of Students Welfare and chief of the inquiry committee. On April 8,a group of BBA (Tourism) students submitted an application to the V-C,accusing lecturer Ajay Kumar of sexual harassment. The V-C constituted a committee to probe the case and submit a report within a week.
Now school from 7 am to 10.30 pm
In view of the ongoing heat wave,the state government ordered a change in the school timings on Wednesday from 7 am to 10.30 am for students upto Class VIII. All schools government and private have been asked to follow the schedule till further notice.
BSP leaders meet PM on Jewar airport
A delegation of Bahujan Samaj Party MPs from the state met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday requesting clearance for the construction of Jewar airport in Greater Noida. The 20-member delegation included BSP leaders like Akhilesh Das,Baliram,Naresh Agarwal and Kadir Rana.
Two bank employees suspended
Two employees of the Rural Development Bank,arrested on charges of killing a woman by throwing her from the seventh floor of a building,were suspended from service on Wednesday. A departmental inquiry has been ordered against Krishna Kumar Singh and Rakesh Tamta, said Naval Kishore,managing director of the bank. They were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly killing 25-year-old Poonam Tiwari in Ghazipur area on April 10.
