Gas tanker-truck collision kills 2

LUCKNOW: Two persons died in Ajgain police station area of Unnao on Sunday morning when a gas tanker exploded after colliding with a stationary truck on Lucknow-Kanpur road. The incident took place round 7 am,police officials said.

Ajgain Station Officer Sujit Kumar Dubey said two charred bodies were recovered from the spot,which could be the driver and conductor of the tanker but they had not been identified. The crop of about one hectare in nearby fields also got burnt in the explosion,Dubey said.

Govt seeks report on ‘corrupt’ engineer

Lucknow: The state government has sought a report from its Principal Secretary,Housing,for initiating an enquiry against a Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) executive engineer for amassing disproportionate assets. The move came on a complaint of S P MLA from Sarojini Nagar,Sharda Pratap Shukla,who alleged that Executive Engineer R N Singh had amassed disproportionate assets by misusing his official position.
