Meerut police on Thursday lodged an FIR against Samajwadi Party candidate Adil Chaudhary and his supporters for violating model code of conduct by displaying arms and distributing money during a party programme.

Meerut police on Thursday lodged an FIR against Samajwadi Party candidate Adil Chaudhary and his supporters for violating model code of conduct by displaying arms and distributing money during a party programme.

The FIR was lodged at Nauchandi police station on the directives of District Magistrate Anil Kumar. As per the reports,the incident happened after the SP workers’ meeting at Nauchandi ground. “Party workers displayed arms while Section 144 was imposed in that area. Adil was reportedly distributing money there. They violated the model code of conduct as well as Section 144,” District Magistrate said. The FIR was lodged against Chaudhary and his unidentified supporters under the sections of 171B (bribery),171C (undue influence at elections),188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of IPC and section 123 (corrupt practices) of Representation of People Act. “The people who created chaos outside the ground and violated the rules,do not belong to Samajwadi Party. They must be some outsiders,” said Jaiveer Singh,district SP president.
