The body of CRPF head constable Subhash Chandra Yadav (41),who allegedly committed suicide by hanging in his barrack at Nagaon district in Assam, arrived at his native place at Mainpuri’s Nakhatpur village on Sunday morning. However, his family refused to take possession of the body, alleging that he had been murdered for exposing corruption in the force.

Subhash Chandra died on Friday. No suicide note was found. His family demanded investigation into his death and asked for a meeting with Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. In the afternoon, the CM met the family and assured them of all possible help. On the family’s demand,he ordered a second post-mortem of the body and announced a financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh for the family.

The post-mortem was conducted by a panel of three doctors. Later, the family cremated the body.

Subhash Chandra’s younger brother Vikas Yadav said their their next step would be decided after seeing the autopsy report and the CM had assured to take up the matter with the authorities in Delhi.

Vikas said that last December, his brother was given the task of keeping record of the unit’s store. The order was passed hurriedly so he could not cross-check the record. “Later, during checking,he found several items were missing. He complained to senior officials, but they started harassing him,” said Vikas.
