Lucknow police on Sunday arrested four persons,including the son of a deputy SP of Uttar Pradesh police,in connection with various cases of robbery committed in Lucknow.
Police arrested Mohammed Shahabuddin,a resident of Krishna Nagar,Vishal Kumar Pal alias Goldy,a resident of Unnao,Jamal Ashraf,a resident of Krishna Nagar,and Alok Chandra,a resident of Ballia.
Police claimed Shahabuddin is head of the gang whose several other members are lodged in jail. Chandra,who stayed in George Town area of Allahabad,is son of deputy SP Ram Jeet Ram,who is currently posted as assistant commandant in Provincial Armed Constabularys Fatehpur-based battalion.
While Shahabuddin,Pal and Ashraf have previous crime records,Chandra has no criminal record,the police said. He was arrested for illegally possessing a licensed gun which had been robbed from Kakori police station area in March. And the recovery is the only link found between the gang and Chandra till now. Chandra has currently been booked only for illegal possession of the gun, said a senior police official.
Lucknow SSP J Ravinder Goud said the robberies committed by the gang included the robbery of a motorcycle in October last year from Gosainganj police station area,robbery of a car from Sarojini Nagar police station area,robberies of two motorcycles from PGI and Thakurganj police station areas,and firing at a person in Thakurganj while attempting to rob him.
The police claimed to have recovered a licensed revolver which was robbed from Kakori area,two countrymade pistols,a car and four motorcycles robbed from various areas of Lucknow,from the arrested persons.
