“Lal Bahadur Shastri,who gave us the ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ slogan,gave a call to all citizens of India to have only fruits and vegetables instead of cereals on Mondays at a time when there was crisis of foodgrain. He even appealed to all to curtail menu for wedding parties and because people answered the call,the crisis was resolved somewhat. That is the kind of sensitivity I wish to create in the face of our present-day issues,” she said,referring to a peace march she led in the city earlier in the day.

“All our enlightenment,empowerment and evolution is manifest mostly in the form of our demand for rights. There is very little talk about duties. There needs to be the right balance between how much we assert our rights and understand and fulfill our duties,” said Bedi,regretting the poor performance of the police force,which in some way is rooted in the “poor allocation of funds for them”.

With reference to the other reality show on the channel Sach Ka Saamna,she stated categorically she would never be on that hotseat.

“They are people with different genes,I guess,who consent to give the world a peek into their personal lives. I am a private person and what I felt necessary to share,I have written in my autobiography ‘I Dare’,” she said,sharing nonetheless,some trivia about herself like how she enjoys her days of retirement.

“I check out all the films,even if they are silly like the recent ones…I listen to music,travel as much as I can and generally have a good time. As for my attire,it has been the same for the past 30 years. My tailor said in a documentary made on me that he was bored of stitching for me clothes of the same design!”
