A fresh task force will be formed to decide the line of action about Japanese Encephalitis vaccination and other control measures. It will include members of Unicef, the voluntary organisation Path and the Centre and will hold regular meetings.
This was the decision made at a high-level meeting regarding prevention and control of JE in Delhi on Thursday.
It has also been decided that the first stock of vaccine from China will first go to districts where vaccination is taking place for the first time. Uttar Pradesh is likely to get the vaccine from the second batch, expected to arrive from China after two weeks.
The state, meanwhile, has refused to use the present stock,a great part of which is still usable. The Centre now has to try and use this stock in other states.
A senior Central government official said: Vaccine from the same stock has been used by Haryana this month. We fail to understand the problem faced by Uttar Pradesh because we had clearly told them to use only the usable stock.
