BSP leader and former MP Kirti Vardhan Singh along with his father Anand Singh, also a former MP,joined the Samajwadi Party in presence of SPs national president and former CM Mulayam Singh Yadav in Lucknow on Saturday.
On the occasion,Anand was also declared as SP nominee for next years Assembly elections in the state from Gaura seat in Gonda district.
Earlier,Kirti, who was then sitting MP,had left the SP during the 2009 Lok Sabha polls and joined the BSP. He had lost the election from Gonda LS seat as BSP nominee in the 2009 LS elections.
Addressing a press conference,Mulayam Singh said he had visited the Lucknow residence of Anand Singh and his son Kirti and requested them to return to the party fold. Their return into the SP fold would strengthen the party, Mulayam told reporters at the press conference. Mulayam also declared that Anand would be SP candidate from the Gaura seat.
Both Anand and his son Kirti avoided speaking anything regarding their two-year association with the ruling BSP. We continued to repent our decision to leave the SP. I am grateful to Netaji (Mulayam Singh)) who allowed me to return to my home with honour, Anand told reporters. He assured Mulayam that he would help the party form next government in the state. His son Kirti said it was because of Netaji that their all problems were solved.
In Gonda politics,SPs present MP from Kaiserganj seat Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and Kirti Vradhan Singh are considered to be adversaries. Kirti had left the SP following the decision of Brij Bhushan, the then BJP MP from Balrampur,to join the SP.
At the press conference,Brij Bhushan said there was no dissension within the party over the return of father son duo – Anand and Kirti- in the SP fold. However,Mulayam Singh asked Brij Bhushan to be tolerant as that is the way of politics.
Meanwhile,Kirti has been expelled from the BSP. On the direction of BSP national president Mayawati, former MP Kirti Vardhan Singh has been expelled from the party due to his involvement in anti-party activities, BSPs zonal coordinator Jugul Kishore said in a press release, issued on Saturday afternoon.
