BJP to launch statewide agitation from Jan 31
The BJP will launch a statewide agitation from January 31 to protest against the alleged anti-people policies of the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government. The party will launch a massive agitation against the anti-people policies of the Centre and the state government and also against price rise, said BJP state vice-president Hriday Narain Dixit.
As part of the agitation,a state-level demonstration would be staged in Lucknow on February 25. On January 31,party workers will form human chains in all districts of the state to protest against price rise. In Lucknow,the agitation will be organised on February 1, said Dixit.
As part of a public awareness campaign,15 meetings will be organised in each Assembly segment from February 7,he added.
Meetings are being held in every district to review preparations of the proposed agitation. Over 5,000 public meetings will be organised between January 31 and February 25, said Dixit.
Joshi demands Tiraths sacking over ad goof-up
VARANASI: Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi has demanded the immediate sacking of Union Women and Child Development Minister Krishna Tirath after a newspaper advertisement given by her ministry on Sunday carried the photograph of a former Pakistan Air Force chief.
The minister and her officers are fully responsible for the goof up in the release of the advertisement,Joshi said on Monday. Tirath must immediately be sacked for this goof up, he added.
The photograph of former Pakistan Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mahmood Ahmed in his official uniform appeared alongside those of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi in a full-page newspaper advertisement given by Tiraths ministry to mark the National Girl Child Day.
Three of a family commit suicide
MAU: Three members of a family in Ailakh village committed suicide on Sunday,said police. A woman along with her son and daughter consumed poisonous tablets,said SP Vir Bahadur Singh. The family was reportedly upset after being duped of Rs 5 lakh after being promise of a government job,he added.
