Boys’ Day Out

After the biker boy act by Navin Ansal for Ravi Bajaj’s show,Jaipur lad Himmat Singh posted eight sentries in traditional attire,sporting a safa (turban) at the entrance. The strapping sentries,actors and part time models especially drove down from Jaipur for the show. “Himmat is from Jaipur and we have known him for a long time,” explained Fiza Hussain who runs a gem shop in Jaipur. Rahim Khan,a stringy bearded man holding a spear cut a natty figure in his white kurta. “I have acted as an extra in films such as Razia Sultan and Veer. I always had a penchant for acting,” said Khan who’s thoroughly enjoying the experience of men’s fashion week. Arvind Singh of Mewar also flew in from Udaipur for Himmat Singh’s show on Day 1. “It’s not really the first time I am watching a fashion show,” smiled the Maharana,before he made a quick exit. “Himmat did a good job of depicting the traditions of Rajasthan aptly and I liked his collection. I appreciate his eye for detail,” smiled Singh,impeccably dressed in a tailored suit.

Actor Dino Morea was almost dewy eyed as he walked down the ramp in a white jacket for designer Manoviraj Khosla,while cricketer Anil Kumble was perfectly natural,beaming with confidence. “It was my first time,” he gushed shyly as we caught up with him after the show. Morea meanwhile said he had a case of the nerves. “Manu asked me to walk in the beginning but I was so nervy that I insisted on walking in the end. It’s been a while since I’ve been on the ramp.”
