Work of 8 artists so distinct, yet so similar

It is unusual to find such conformity in the work of eight different artists as you find in ‘Rejoicing in Artistic Extensions’,an exhibition of paintings that opened at State Lalit Kala Akademi,Lal Baradari,Qaiserbagh on Tuesday. “All the artists are versatile and paint in diverse styles using different media, but we picked out of everybody’s work frames that could be presented together as one show,” says Ramchandra Pokale, whose Yauvana series blends seamlessly into the work of Mahesh Prajapati right next or with the Varanasi vignettes by Anup Kumar Ghosh and Om Prakash Gupta on the opposite wall. The paintings are mostly 36”x36” in dimension, while there are also some in 24”x24” frames and one in 72”x48” (Sangeeta Pathak’s Gossip-1),priced 15,000 to Rs 1,00,000 each. The show that includes striking acrylics by S Pranam Singh,Jiten Sahu and Manoj K Singh has travelled to Lucknow from Varanasi and would be moving to Bhopal next. (Till Feb 25,11 AM to 6 PM)
