BJP sets up overseas cell in UP unit

A party leader said the overseas cell will promote and propagate policies and principles of the BJP and strengthen support for the party among Indians living abroad. The cell will establish contacts with political and social organisations of different countries for exchange of views on matters of national and international importance. It will also disseminate information about the BJP,its policies and strategy on important issues and political developments in India.

National co-convener of the cell Amit Thaker said Indian nationals living in other countries may help the BJP in elections in different ways. “They can influence their relatives in India to vote for and support the BJP in elections,” Thaker said.

He said that Bihar natives in Mauritius,Malayalees in Dubai,Tamils in Singapore and Malaysia used to help the BJP in Assembly elections in their respective states. A large number of people from UP are in the US,he added.

“The overseas cell of different states will trace the people of their states living in other countries and communicate to them the ideology and agenda of the BJP and seek their support for the Lok Sabha elections,” Thaker said.

BJP state president Laxmikant Bajpai said people from UP living in countries like Canada,US and UK have shown interest to support BJP candidates in the Lok Sabha elections. “They want to campaign in support of BJP candidates and vote in their favour. The BJP will maintain communication with them through the overseas cell,” Bajpai said.

The BJP’s overseas cell has members in the US and UK who are working as a bridge between the party and Indian nationals living there. The party has such workers in 12 states of the US and three regions of UK. They have exclusive websites on which people can read the views of BJP leaders on national and international issues.
