BJP asks workers not to protest at Kejriwal’s Varanasi rally

District convener of the organsiation, Dharmendra Gupta said his workers will raise ‘Har-Har Modi’ slogans during Kejriwal’s rally.

The BJP has asked its workers in Varanasi to avoid any kind of opposition against AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal’s rally in the city March 25, where he is expected to announce his candidature against Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, Varanasi unit of Narendra Modi Army — an organisation that recently campaigned for Modi’s candidature from Varanasi — has planned to protest Kejriwal by showing him black flags.

District convener of the organsiation, Dharmendra Gupta said his workers will raise ‘Har-Har Modi’ slogans during Kejriwal’s rally.

However, the BJP district unit has issued directives to workers not to get involved in any kind of protest like sloganeering against Kejriwal during his visit.  Party workers have been asked to stay away from his rally venue.

To ensure workers do not violate the directive, party district chief Tulsi Subramanyam Joshi has directed workers to hold a day-long meeting of booth and sector committees March 25 and finalise names for booth heads and sectors heads who will lead the campaigns in their areas.

Reports of the meeting have to be submitted the same day. “We have decided not to protest against Kejriwal and focus on our preparations of election campaign for Modiji,” Joshi said. Joshi also said the party feels that Kejriwal should not be given any importance in front Modi in Varanasi.

Party’s Kashi region vice-president Rakesh Trivedi said, “After the polling of graduate and teachers constituencies of Legislative Council is over Sunday, the party will gear up for Modi’s campaign. Party state co-incharge Rameshwar Chauraisya will visit next week to decide the election office. State in-charge Amit Shah will also visit soon.” Trivedi said.
