Bedroom Singers

If you have a band and eye on fame, then give it a shot from the comfort of your bedroom.

If you have a band and eye on fame, then give it a shot from the comfort of your bedroom. Red Bull Bedroom Jam,a venture to find the best bands in India,is urging bands from various cities to make music in their bedrooms to enter the competition.

With a website in place and an audience keen on discovering new music, all a participant needs to do is make a video —produced in a bedroom,if the bands please — and upload it. Fans and friends can then log in and vote for their favourite bands. Two bands from each city — Mumbai,Delhi,Bangalore and Pune — will be selected for a face-off at a live venue. An established band and the audience will select the winner in each city. The winning bands will get the opportunity to make a professional music video apart from bagging some interesting headlining acts.

Last year, the Bedroom Jam saw over 100 participants, most of who were metal bands. Blakc, the winners from Mumbai, landed a chance to open for Metallica in Delhi. Unfortunately, that didn’t pan out the way they had planned because the concert was cancelled, but the winners have been playing at several other clubs and festivals around the country.

This year, the organisers are hoping to increase participation and open the floor to mainstream rock and alternative genres as well. “We expect increased participation, given that efforts to reach out to bands, especially in colleges are being intensified,” said Rohan Vyavaharkar,National Communications Manager,Red Bull India.
