BDC candidate found dead,father blames political rivalry

Diwakar’s family members and the residents of the area blocked the Azamgarh-Gorakhpur Road and gheraoed the local police station demanding filing of a case of murder. The protest ended after a case of murder was registered.

The Azamgarh Superintendent of Police (SP),Bhagwan Swaroop, said the injury marks on Diwakar’s body appear to be caused by an accident,but there is no eyewitness to corroborate it.

He said they are waiting for the postmortem report to ascertain if Diwakar was murdered or he was hit by any vehicle.

Diwakar’s father Ram Janak Yadav said his son had left home last evening saying that he had to meet someone regarding canvassing. He said some locals informed him this morning about his son’s body lying on Gorakhpur Road.

He said when they rushed to the place they found injuries on Diwakar’s head and thighs and his belongings were lying scattered around.

Yadav alleged that his son was murdered owing to election rivalry but police were trying to weaken the case.

The SHO of City Kotwali,Govind Singh,a murder case has been registered into the matter and they are searching for the person whom the victim visited the last on Sunday.
