Two sisters died and three of their relatives sustained injuries when an explosion took place at a double-storey house in Agra’s Rakabganj area Saturday night. While DIG (Agra Range) Luxmi Singh said ruled out the possibility of the incident being related to terror, police suspect the explosion took place due to gas leakage and the presence of fire crackers at the house. The explosion took place at businessman Baljit Singh’s residence at Baluganj locality in Rakabganj. Following explosion, the whole building came down. Police, with help from locals, removed the debris to rescue the victims. Singh’s two daughters — Simran (21) and Nikki (18) — were found dead. [related-post] The three injured included Baljit, his wife and daughter Neha. They have been admitted in the hospital, where their condition is stated to be stable. Agra ASP Sameer Saurabh said prima facie they suspect the explosion occurred after fire crackers exploded. The victim’s family, however, filed a complaint with the Agra police, alleging that the explosion took place after unidentified persons hurled bombs at their residence. “The allegations made by the family will be investigated,” Saurabh said. Police found a gas pipeline running from a nearby hotel owned by Singh to his residence. Saurabh claimed gas may have leaked from the pipeline, leading to explosion.
