The Lucknow Municipal Corporation on Thursday started a round-the-clock Public Grievance Redressal Centre. People can lodge their complaints by dialing a toll free number – 1800-180-0522 and two other land line numbers – 2610018 and 2200218.

The computerised centre will function on the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) where people can register 28 types of complaints related to encroachment,fogging,cattle-catching,water-logging,death and birth certificates, streetlights, property transfer, sanitation, sewerage, sale of contaminated food items, etc.

“Whenever a person calls on these numbers,an operator will receive his compliant and give him a complaint number. Using that complaint number, the complainant can check the status of his complaint later on,” said PK Srivastava,Additional Municipal Commissioner.

The complainant will have options to speak both in Hindi or English. The complainants’ conversation with the operators will also be recorded which officials could use for review of the complaints. The complainant will get a time limit within which the problem will be resolved.

LMC has divided the complaints into seven categories. Complaints could be redressed either on the same day, within 24-hours,two days, three days,a week,15 days and a month depending on their nature.

After registration of the complaint, the complainant will receive an SMS as acknowledgment. The operator will sent the complaint to the official concerned through e-mail and inform by telephone as well.

The LMC has taken the service of Banglore-based firm Analog Systems that has deputed four employees to run the centre. These employees will receive complaints manually at the centre between 8 am and 7 pm. However, between 7 pm and 8 am,complaints would be recorded on the computer.
