Dissident Trinamool Congress MP Somen Mitra, once again claimed that he wants out of the ruling party in West Bengal where he feels “suffocated”,but continued to dilly-dally on the possible date when he will do so or the party which he intends to join.

“I want to get out of this suffocating situation as early as possible,” Mitra said at a blood donation camp in Sealdah area of central Kolkata where a large number of state Congress leaders were also present.

Mitra said he felt good to be in the company of Congress leaders with whom he had worked closely in the past. “But some time back I had lost my way and deviated from my goal,” he said, once again hinting that that his association with the TMC had not been a healthy one.

Some Congress leaders, including state president Pradip Bhattacharya, said they wanted Mitra to return to the Congress.

Mitra reciprocated saying he has lost confidence in the TMC. However, asked if his statements today should be taken as his joining the Congress party,Mitra said,he was yet to officially resign from TMC.

“When I do that (wuit TMC),it will be done openly,” he said.

Incidentally,it was a blood donation camp in the same area about three months back where several TMC MPs such Shatabdi Roy,Tapas Paul and Kunal Ghosh had shared the stage with Mitra, earning flak from party leadership. Though Shatabdi Roy and Tapas Paul were granted pardon after they apologised to party chief Mamata Banerjee and general secretary Mukul Roy for attending Mitra’s programme,Kunal Ghosh was suspended from the party.
