Suspected Maoists and People’s Committee Against Police Atrocities activists set fire to three trucks at Lodhasuli on National Highway 6 this morning on the last day of their blockade that began on December 18.

Suspected Maoists and People’s Committee Against Police Atrocities (PCAPA) activists set fire to three trucks at Lodhasuli on National Highway 6 this morning on the last day of their blockade that began on December 18.

The PCAPA has been demanding the release of its two activists who were arrested on December 6 from Lalgarh but have been since missing.

The outfit alleges the police have handed over to CPM cadres.

Normal life in Jhargram and its adjoining areas has been hit for the last two weeks.

Police said a mob of more than a thousand people stopped three trucks carrying potato and vegetables around 9.30 am today on the National

Highway at Lodhasuli and forced the staff to get down before setting them on fire. West Midnapore SP Manoj Verma said no arrests have been made so far.

The PCAPA said today it will lift the blockade from tomorrow for the interest of the local farmers since it is the harvesting season for potato.
