“For a long time, the accused was trying to confront Singh as the latter had proposed his sister. On Wednesday morning, the accused stopped Singh, who was returning home on his Scooty, near Shilpara LIC junction." A 34-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a youth to death in broad daylight in Behala’s Thakurpukur area on Wednesday. Police said that prima facie the reason behind the murder was personal enmity as 26-year-old Animesh Singh had proposed to the sister of the accused a year ago.
“For a long time, the accused was trying to confront Singh as the latter had proposed his sister. On Wednesday morning, the accused stopped Singh, who was returning home on his Scooty, near Shilpara LIC junction. The accused stabbed Singh multiple times, including in his chest and then fled. Singh was brought to SSKM Hospital by police and was declared dead on arrival,” said a police officer involved in the murder probe.
The 34-year-old accused is now in police custody.
