Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee will approach Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi regarding the mysterious death of Arindam Manna, the investigating officer in the Rizwanur Rehman death case.

Banerjee said she will even approach President Pratibha Patil on the issue.

“There is a great conspiracy going on before the elections. We want justice for the family of Manna,Rizwanur Rehman and Tapasi Malik. The CPM leaders responsible for her death should be hanged. We will approach the Governor on these issues and even the President,” said Banerjee at a rally in Esplanade on Monday.

She also informed that her party will organise a massive rally on Tuesday from Park Circus, near Rizwanur Rehman’s house.

Alleging that CPM’s ‘terror’ was on the rise in West Bengal before the Lok Sabha election, the Trinamool Congress on Monday warned the party not to cross the “Lakshman Rekha” and called for a united fight against it.

“The CPM-led government should not do whatever it likes. We are a responsible political party and believe in democracy or else we would have thrashed them,” Banerjee said.

She also alleged that the Marxist “manipulated” the voters’ lists. Banerjee, however, remained silent on the issue of her party’s possible alliance with the Congress in the Lok Sabha poll. She only said a united fight against the CPM was required to “revive” democracy in the state.
