JU students can now go multi-discipline

The students of Jadavpur University can now choose more than one discipline,which will boost the concept of inter-disciplinary and cross-disciplinary courses.

Termed as Audit Courses,the students can choose any programmes in painting,music,foreign language,dramatics,animation and sound mixing from the next academic session.

The decision was taken by the executive council,the highest decision-making body of the university,on Wednesday.

These programmes will be available to all the students ofJadavpur University irrespective in which year they are. The admission to the programme will be optional and classes will be held in the evening, said Patha Patim Biswas,a senior faculty member and member of the executive council.

Each programme will have hundred marks and the students are free to choose as many disciplines in these category. Marks of the audit courses will,however,not be added to the total score of the students. The students can pursue Physics (Honours) as well as an audit course in music or painting, said a faculty member of the university.
