Industrial policy delayed

Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee today said that the Industrial Policy 2013,which was scheduled to be announced during Bengal Leads in January, has not been framed as the incentive scheme which was supposed to be provided to industrialists is not ready.

Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee today said that the Industrial Policy 2013,which was scheduled to be announced during Bengal Leads in January, has not been framed as the incentive scheme which was supposed to be provided to industrialists is not ready.

“We are facing a huge financial crunch. We are not ready to frame the incentive scheme for industrialists. As a result, the Industrial Policy for 2013 is delayed,” Chatterjee said at Writers’ Buildings.

At Bengal Leads,Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said that it was difficult to frame the incentive scheme as per the wishes of industrialists.

Under the new incentive scheme proposed by industrialists, districts in the state would be classified into three categories.

To encourage industrialisation in backward districts, the number of years for fiscal incentives and ceiling on the magnitude of such incentives have been increased to 15 years as against 9 years in the previous budget. A comprehensive rehabilitation package for sick and closed units has also been proposed by industrialists.
