Looks like everyone’s moving to Hollywood after Slumdog Millionaire. The latest to jump on to the bandwagon is actor Shenaz Treasurywala who has turned screenplay writer for an as yet untitled film to be produced by American television writer Rob Long.

“It is a comedy about the dilemmas of young women looking for love and matrimony in modern Mumbai,” says Treasurywala, who is at the moment casting the Indian parts in the movie. “We already have Colin Hanks (Tom Hanks’ son) for one of the roles. He has given us a letter of intent saying that he wants to be a part of this film,” says Treasurywala,“Once the casting is done the shooting will begin soon.”

The film being in the financing stage,Treasurywala refuses to divulge more details, but ask her how she turned a screenplay writer from a VJ and she has a long story to tell. “I wrote the screenplay when I took time off and was living between Hong Kong,Bangkok,Mumbai and Los Angeles. I was in my living-out-of-a-suitcase phase,” she smiles.

Although she insists she has a talent for writing, she thanks her good fortune for having found a producer so soon. “It was in LA that I met Rob who is a well-known writer, especially for his popular TV show Cheers. I told him about my screenplay and asked him to read it. He called me a few days later saying he had read it,loved it and wanted to produce it,” says the anchor of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge 4,who is all excited about her new job. “The screenplay was later shown to the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) who found it hilarious too,” she says.
