‘TMCP supporters’ ransack Sirish Chandra College
The Sirish Chandra College was ransacked on late Saturday night allegedly by supporters of the Trinamool Congress Chattra Parishad (TMCP). College Principal Anjan Sengupta today lodged a complaint with the local police,while also asking the University of Calcutta to send a team to look into the matter.
Agitated with the furniture of Maharani Kasheswari College being put in the corridor of Sirish Chandra College,TMCP supporters reportedly destroyed furniture,including 12 almirahs and the college notice board. The Maharaja Sirish Chandra College and the Maharani Kasheswari College are run in the same building,one in the evening and other in the morning.

Ray’s condition stable
The condition of ailing former Chief Minister Siddhartha Shankar Ray remained stable on Sunday. A medical bulletin issued by Woodlands Nursing Home,where Ray is admitted,said he was receiving treatment for long standing renal and cardiac problems. “Ray is also undergoing a thorough check-up and will have further investigations,if required,” the bulletin said. Ray (89) was admitted to the nursing home on Saturday with kidney-related complications and other ailments.
