Here Comes the Bride

Fashion designer Gaurav Gupta has clearly become comfortable with bling if his Bridal Asia collection is anything to go by. Gupta,who enters the couture bridal segment at the Bridal Asia exhibition this year,held a preview of his dresses and jewellery at Hyatt Regency on Tuesday.

The designer gave a saucy turn to saris and lehengas as he draped four Delhi socialites — Riddhima Kapoor Sahni,Nisha Singh,Shreya Singh and model Prerna Sharma. “The wedding season is all about bling and I have experimented with handmade embroidery and new draping techniques,” said Gupta,showing off his crystal-embellished creations.

And without being risqué,the “brides” bared more than a wee bit of their washboard abs. Kapur shimmered in black while Singh,a yoga trainer,pirouetted in an inky blue net sari with a chunky flower pinned on the shoulder. Sharma looked glamorous in a deep red lehenga with lots of layering.

As Divya Gurwara,founder of Bridal Asia,watched with pride,the evening brought in socialites like Simar Duggal,Anjalee Chawla and Sheena Sharma,who checked out the new bridal collection over sangrias.
