Death Anniversary of U Kiang Nangbah 2025 Bank Holiday: Banks will be closed today, Tuesday, December 30, on account of the death anniversary of U Kiang Nangbah, as per the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) 2025 holiday calendar.
U Kiang Nangbah was a freedom fighter from Meghalaya who led a rebellion against the British and was publicly executed by them in 1862. To honour his sacrifice for freedom, his death anniversary is observed across the state every year on December 30.
These bank holidays are designated under the Negotiable Instruments Act, which entails both RTGS holidays and other regional and national holidays.
As we approach the end of 2025 and the start of the new year, 2026, in the coming days, there were 18 official bank holidays scheduled for December, which include the mandatory weekly days off on the second Saturday and Sunday of each month.
