Kolkata Police on Wednesday arrested a 21-year-old engineering student, who has been accused of raping his classmate. According to police, the alleged incident took place on December 21 when the accused allegedly “lured” her to an empty apartment where he “drugged her drink and raped her”. The incident came to light on Tuesday after the girl told her parents about the incident, and a complaint was registered at a local police station. “The accused student was summoned on Tuesday. After a nightlong questioning, he was arrested,” said a police officer. The police have also summoned the friend of the accused, who owns the flat where the alleged incident took place, for questioning. Sources in the police said that the initial probe suggested that the accused and the girl had a tiff some time ago and they were not on talking terms. However, in December they patched up, and decided to meet when the accused allegedly raped her, said the officer.
