Kamal Dey,the editor of Bengal Law magazine, who had moved a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Calcutta High Court on improper use of the National Emblem, has alleged harassment by the police.

Dey alleged the Thakurpukur police station had registered a criminal case on December 23,2009 under Section 107 of the IPC against him and his mother Durga Dey on the basis of a complaint registered by a few locals that he had created disturbance in their locality. The police forwarded the FIR to the Alipore court on December 31.

The court had issued summons on January 31,2010 and it was returned to the court as the mother-son duo was not found in their residence.
