Didi grades depts, 5 pass with ‘average’ marks

The CM based the assessment on the utilisation fo budgetary allocations to that particular department.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today held a meeting with her ministers and officials of various departments at Town Hall and took stock of the developmental programmes undertaken by them.

Grading the departments as “outstanding”, “good” and “average”, the CM based the assessment on the utilisation fo budgetary allocations to that particular department.

Among those that got ‘outstanding’ (which means the department was able to spend over 70 per cent of the budget allocated to it) include Irrigation, Panchayat, Power, Urban Development, and Public Health Engineering.

Those that came up with ‘good’ marks were Labour, Excise, Home, Transport, Forests, and Paschimanchal Unnayan Parshad while Environment, Planning and Statistics, Judiciary, Housing, and Refugee Rehabilitation had to content themselves with being just ‘average’.

“The (review) meeting was held after seven months. The next such meeting will take place on June 2 at Uttarkanya (the state government’s secretariat in north Bengal),’’ Mamata said after the meeting.

Meanwhile, the state government has planned to declare August 14 as Kannyashri Divas in the state.
