The inaugural Kolkata International Shorts Film Festival began on Wednesday at Nandan, with children taking the centrestage. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who was present at the function, also preferred not to take the stage and instead sat on the front row to watch the ceremony.

Partho A.Gupte, the ‘Stanley’ behind the popular children’s film ‘Stanley Ka Dabba’ inaugurated the festival but he too allowed the children to do the ritual of lighting the lamps to child actors.
