Passenger had a narrow escape when two compartments of Sealdah-bound Budge Budge local train derailed near Ballygunge station on Sunday. The train service on the track has been suspended for time being.
Preliminary investigation by the railway authorities has reportedly found nine pandrol clips missing and three pandrol clips defunct at the stretch of the railway track where the train derailed.
Although there was no report of any casualty,except a minor injury to a passenger who jumped off the train,the incident has raised a serious question regarding the safety of passengers who take the train every day.
The Eastern Railway authorities have formed a committee to probe the incident.
According to Eastern Railway authorities,train services between Sealdah and Ballygunge on Sealdah south section of Eastern Railway were affected from 12.14 noon onwards. The train services on routes to Canning,Budge Budge,Laxmikantapur,Namkhana and Diamond Harbour were also affected due to the incident.
Train services will resume from 8 pm onwards,said chief public relation officer,Eastern Railways,Samir Goswami.
