His on field chemistry with Carlos Dunga notwithstanding,Brazilian World Cupper Branco feels that Selecao were done in by the wrong team selection in South Africa 2010.

“It would have been a lot better with Ronaldinho and three other players in the team. Adriano,Gancho and Hernanes too should have been in the squad for South Africa,” said Branco who is here to star in a Bengali reality TV show.

Branco also didn’t approve coach Dunga’s style that saw Brazil shut out their attacking flair. The former star called for an overhaul of the team with an eye on the 2014 World Cup that his country will host. “Dunga’s team had very few young players and many of them would not be there in the next edition in Brazil,” he said.

The Brazilian football federation is yet to appoint a new coach after terminating Dunga’s contract. Asked who would be the next coach,Branco said: “It’s difficult to say. There are quite a few persons with good credentials. I hope the federation select the coach and start preparation for various tournaments, including the next World Cup as early as possible.”

Branco, who was part of the 1994 World Cup winning team in the United States,is enjoying his role in Kolkata. He,along with former Indian international Subhas Bhowmick is training 48 youngsters for the football reality show The Match. Selected players will make a team that will play against Mohun Bagan.
