36 CMO officials transferred

In a bid to rebuild the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO),Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today issued transfer orders of 36 staff members including officers who were recruited during the Left Front regime.

In a bid to rebuild the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO),Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today issued transfer orders of 36 staff members including officers who were recruited during the Left Front regime.

Out of the total staff strength of 58 in the CMO,only 22 whose ranks ranged from Assistant Secretaries to Lower Division clerks were retained.

All the 36 CMO staff members who have been transferred were asked today to handover all the files and documents they were working on to their senior officers.

Banerjee has already said that she was in favour of a strong CMO with mainly IAS officers manning the posts of Joint Secretaries.

Meanwhile,late in the evening,the Chief Minister presided over a meeting of the body to frame guidelines for the celebration of the event to mark the 150 years of Rabindranath Tagore.

Those who attended the meeting included danseuses Amala Shankar and Tanushree Shankar,filmmaker Rituporno Ghosh,artist Jogen Choudhury,stage actor Shanoli Mitra,singer Dwijen Mukhopadhyay among others.

“We have given the proposal to reintroduce Rabindranath’s Shahaj Path in the syllabus of primary schools,” Mitra said.
